The Wiltshire Skills 4 Success Enterprise Day held at the Civic Centre in Trowbridge on 29th April 2014 was a huge success.
The day was opened by the newly appointed High Sheriff Peter Addington and with a captivating demonstration by U20’s Team GB Judo champion Jemima Duxberry and training partner.
In excess of 155 young people were supported over the course of the day including more than 40 who are NEET (Not in Employment Education or Training) or those at risk of becoming so. The event also engaged with students from local secondary schools and Wiltshire College. Each young person had the opportunity to browse the careers fair, take part in mock interviews with employers, cv workshops with recruitment experts and participate in Q&A sessions with inspiring role models and entrepreneurs.
Approximately 31 businesses and employers were supported on the day, including Qinetiq, Siemens, Network Rail and the Army. The National Apprentice Service Bus also supported a total of 111 young people, employers, parents, providers and teachers/staff/carers.
Our aim is to prepare young people for the world of work and we believe those who attended were able to gain some real insights which will stand them in good stead for whatever career they choose in the future.
