STEM Mentors 2014-16

April 30, 2015

Wiltshire Skills 4 Success is now looking for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) volunteers, for our fourth cohort of inspiring Mentors from local employers and business.

You will be supported and trained by Wiltshire Skills 4 Success, so you are able to share your experiences and knowledge with young people in Wiltshire (supporting 16-24 year olds who are either in secondary school or NEET – not in Employment, Education or Training).

Already we have seen some fantastic outcomes for the young people who have engaged with this project with more than 300 yp supported through this scheme since April 2013 and more than 30 businesses engaged so far.

The Wiltshire Skills 4 Success is now embarking on a new and exciting phase which will include an Enterprise & Innovation Education Programme, aiming to encourage the next generation of scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs by facilitating interactive education experiences to schools, colleges and young people. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Mentors will work with young people to assist with things like coursework, job searching, interview techniques, building self confidence and setting future targets/goals but also crucially to give them an insight into STEM sectors and careers.

If you are interested in becoming a STEM Mentor and inspiring the future generation please get in touch with the Wiltshire Skills 4 Success team to register your interest for future cohorts (2014-2016).
