The Employment and Skills service supports the development of a diverse, highly skilled and competitive workforce in Wiltshire to meet the needs of employers now and in the future. The service focuses on developing an inclusive economy and engages with businesses to provide more opportunities to upskill the workforce and improve employability.
About the role
The Routes to Employment team works with training providers, employers, voluntary organisations and the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership to deliver the following areas of responsibility:
- vocational skills development, work-based learning and apprenticeships,
- sector specific skills support for the local economy,
- developing provision through private providers, Further Education and Higher Education,
- and skills for inclusion such as engagement/re-engagement activities, individual resilience, life skills, employability and skills development, and support with retention of employment (primarily through the Building Bridges programme).
The ability to drive forward projects and experience of collaborative working are key for this role, alongside high level communication and organisational skills
You will have a sound understanding of parts of the education and skills system such as primary and secondary education, Further Education, Higher Education and routes to employment (eg apprenticeships).
