  • Force Custody Operations Officer  Covering between Melksham and Swindon
  • Full Time £21,384 rising to £22,323 in 2 increments per annum
  • Part of the role will encompass completing custody-process related documentation and assisting in the delivery of coordination between internal and external users of the custody service, and ensuring a safe, efficient and effective custody system is maintained. To succeed you must have proven administration experience and be able to maintain accurate manual and computerised recording systems including having a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook).   The ability to compile statistical data and reports, organise and prioritise own workloads are key requirements for this post as is excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.

  • Full Time £33,597 rising to £37,563
  • The successful candidate will be expected to: To provide an effective and efficient Crime Scene Investigation capability to the SW Regional Forces. To attend all categories of crime scene and associated locations to conduct scientific examinations with the objective of identifying, recording and recovering physical and digital forensic evidence and intelligence information. To conduct additional post scene activity to enable effective processing of evidence and intelligence information. A pool of successful candidates will be held for six months to fill potential future Forcewide vacancies throughout Devon and Cornwall, Avon and Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset.

  • Full Time or Part Time Full Time (24/7 shifts) or specified part time shifts between 8 am and 10 pm
  • £18,258 rising to £22,323 + 14-20% antisocial hours allowance
  • All 101 non-emergency and 999 emergency calls across Wiltshire come into our state-of-the-art control room, where our call handlers take more than 380,000 calls a year.  You will need to be able to assess situations quickly, have an excellent telephone manner and be able to listen and offer reassurance and advice to the public.  Successful candidates will start by fielding calls in our Central Call Handling (CCH) team, prioritising and sorting 101 calls and passing them onto our Crime Recording and Incident Bureau (CrIB) for further investigation, or transferring callers through to individual departments. Everyone who works for us needs to be a ‘people person’ and enjoy talking, listening and empathising with people. If you’re more analytically minded and love attention to detail, you’re likely to find you’ll be posted within the CrIB, as the first investigator to any crime reported on 101.

  • Escort Officer South Wiltshire – Salisbury or Amesbury Full Time
  • £21,384 – £22,323 per annum plus 20% antisocial hours allowance
  • Escort Officers are responsible for the secure detention, care and welfare of detained persons whilst transporting them to custody on behalf of arresting officers. They work alongside police officers and police staff as part of a community team. In addition, they will have secondary administration roles including continuity of exhibits and monitoring of CCTV. To perform these roles you will need excellent communication, problem solving, administration and IT skills and be able to deal with a variety of different people in what can be a physically demanding role. Successful applicants should be able to work with minimum supervision whilst also performing as part of a team.   You should also hold a full current UK driving licence. Training will be provided in the more technical aspects of the role and successful applicants must therefore be available for a 2- 3 week training course commencing early April 2018.  This is a full time course, which will be delivered mainly in Devizes but may also involve some days at Melksham custody unit.

  • Live Cell Officer X2 Devizes Full Time
  • £23,613 rising to £24,651 in 2 increments + 20% antisocial hours allowance
  • Live Cell Officers (LCO) work within the Emergency Control Centre in Devizes. This is an exciting opportunity for people with a sound knowledge of investigation techniques to join the Control Room Team. The successful applicants will be playing a crucial role in assisting the Force Incident Room Manager, Incident Controllers and the Intelligence Live Cell Detective Sergeants to gather intelligence to help them deal appropriately with ongoing and live incidents. The LCOs will also be liaising closely with the Divisional Intelligence Units and other departments to collate relevant intelligence and information in order to prepare briefings for staff within the ECC and FCC. They will be playing an important role in promoting a better understanding of intelligence led policing within these environments. Successful applicants will need to be able to demonstrate that they have experience in working in a police service environment or similar, have previous analytical experience and are able to handle confidential information appropriately. Applicants must be computer literate and demonstrate the ability to operate and interrogate computer systems and databases in use throughout the Force for intelligence purposes.

  • Bobby Van Operators visit people’s homes to give expert advice on safety and security. They install appropriate equipment to improve the home’s security. The Bobby Van Operator evaluates needs by means of a security and fire risk assessment. We supply and fit all locks and fittings necessary to secure the property – free of charge. The client is advised on good practice regarding property security, personal safety and fire prevention. Operators reassure and address any concerns that the client may have. Operators will also give talks and presentations to groups within the community.

  • Force Trainer Devizes HQ Full Time
  • £26,274 – rising to £27,648 in 2 increments
  • Wiltshire Police needs an enthusiastic and self-motivated Trainer to join the Training team within the People Development Department.   You will need to be able to plan, prepare and deliver a variety of courses to Police Officers and Police Staff, including delivering IT training.  You will provide support for and assist in the development and assessment of students. The role of the Trainer covers the full training cycle, from training needs analysis through to evaluation.  You will be involved in the research, development and evaluation of new courses and alternative delivery methods, with the aim of bringing a more blended learning approach to Wiltshire Police.    To be successful you will need a confident training style, possess excellent communication skills and be willing to work both independently and in a dynamic team. You must be adaptable to the changing demands of the Police service and represent the values of the service. A recognised professional training qualification, AET, CEAT, Cert Ed, or equivalent, is desirable for this post and ideally you will be A1 assessor qualified.
