Clarkson and Evans are recruiting electrical apprentices to be based in Trowbridge.

What will you do as an apprentice?

You will work as part of a small team, wiring new homes from start to finish. Your team will include an experienced electrician and usually a second or third year apprentice. Your skills will build over time and will eventually include:
•Installing cables throughout the house
•Installing ventilation ducting for fans
•Wiring telephone and TV points
•Fitting all types of lights, sockets and switches
•Installing appliances
•Wiring smoke and intruder alarms

It’s hard work, but you’ll be able to get stuck in from day one so you’re making a worthwhile contribution to the team.

What will you get paid?

Average weekly rates of pay for apprentices are £260 in year 1, rising to £350 from year 2 onwards. Pay is made up of a guaranteed minimum rate plus a monthly bonus that depends on the work completed by each team.

Guaranteed weekly minimum rates are £150 in year 1, increasing from year 2 onwards to £296 for those aged 21 to 24 and £314 if you’re aged 25 plus.

How long will the apprenticeship take to complete?

Four years

Typical working hours

At least 40 hours a week, starting at 7am (sometimes earlier) and finishing late afternoon, Monday to Friday. At busy times of the year there will be a requirement to work late and work weekends. Working hours are not fixed so a flexible attitude is essential.

What are Clarkson Evans looking for?

You must be aged 18 or over and hold a full driving licence. Ideally they are looking for GCSE grade Cs (or grade 4) or above in English, Maths and a science but if you haven’t got these, we’ll consider any relevant work experience you have that might make up for it.
