On Thursday 23rd August – GCSE results day, the Employment and Skills team met with members of the public including; students and parents who were interested in apprenticeships.
We met with young people who had varying levels of knowledge around apprenticeships; many of whom wanted to know if their future career aspirations were available through the apprenticeship route and what they needed to do to identify opportunities in the area.
In addition to the drop-in session at County Hall, Trowbridge, there was a presentation aimed at parents and young people, again this was to promote information available around apprenticeships but also to dispel many of the myths that exist around pay, training and future progression opportunities. The presentation was also a chance to talk about Higher and Degree apprenticeships as an alternative to university.
Both events provided an opportunity for attendees to take part in our apprenticeship quiz; testing their knowledge and encouraging them to think about apprenticeships differently.
Fancy having a go? There is a quiz for employers and individuals which you can find here.
Information is available from the Employment & Skills team throughout the year so if you are a student, parent or employer get in contact or visit the apprenticeship page on the Work Wiltshire website.
