What is this course about?

On this course you will learn how to enhance your life and the wellbeing of your family members. You will develop greater awareness of your health and feel better and more confident. We will share lots of ways to communicate better and look after our mental health. This course combines wellbeing and communication skills with walking your way to health.

Course format:

You will learn together in a relaxed and friendly group environment. There are ten sessions of two hours. It will include full group teaching and independent activities. There will be some activities to complete at home to help develop your knowledge or practise your skills.

· How to make healthy changes to your lifestyle

· Build your self esteem and confidence

· Enjoy discovery walks and learn about the local area

Who will benefit from attending?

Any adult, family member, or carer who would like to develop their confidence, learn hints and tips on ways to be healthier in mind and body and build on skills learnt to have the confidence to apply for jobs will enjoy this course. Will I be assessed?  

You will be required to complete some paperwork during this course. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.  

Eligibility

Courses are no cost to learners who meet the eligibility criteria:

Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August 2024 to learn with Family and Community Learning this academic year.  Learners must also have a Wiltshire postcode and either have lived in the UK/EU for three years or meet certain residency requirements (for example, certain types of immigration status are exempt from the three-year residency rule). Learners must also be able to tick one of the following criteria:

  • On a lower income, earning less than £25,000 a year.
  • In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit).
  • Care leaver, refugee, foster carer, carer, military family / ex-armed forces personnel, learning difficulty or disability, or have school-aged children who receive free school meals.
  • Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future.
