What’s this course about?
This course will help you improve your English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills and develop your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. There will be an individualised approach focusing on the areas you need to work on to improve.
Course format:
You will learn together in a group in a relaxed and friendly environment. There are five sessions of two hours which will include full group teaching and independent activities. There will be some activities to complete at home to help develop your knowledge or practice your skills.
Who will benefit from attending?
This course will benefit anyone who would like to improve their English language skills.
What will I learn?
- Improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
- Develop your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.
- Learn to follow grammatical rules relating to tenses, and to identify and improve pronunciation.
How long is the course?
This is run as 2-hour sessions over 5 weeks, with some activities to do at home to help you practise your skills.
Will I be assessed?
You will be required to complete some paperwork during this course. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.
Eligibility:
Courses are no cost to learners who meet the eligibility criteria:
Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August 2024 to learn with Family and Community Learning this academic year. Learners must also have a Wiltshire postcode and either have lived in the UK/EU for three years or meet certain residency requirements (for example, certain types of immigration status are exempt from the three-year residency rule). Learners must also be able to tick one of the following criteria:
- On a lower income, earning less than £25,000 a year.
- In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit).
- Care leaver, refugee, foster carer, carer, military family / ex-armed forces personnel, learning difficulty or disability, or have school-aged children who receive free school meals.
- Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future.
