SUMMARY:Exploring Easy Meals
DESCRIPTION:Venue: The Friary Centre Salisbury\, SP1 2HW What’s this course about?   This course aims to provide learners with basic cooking skills that they can adapt to encourage independence and confidence in the kitchen.  Learners will follow a basic single pot recipe and will make choices to ensure a balanced\, nutritious meal is created.  Course format:   This is a face-to-face course where learners will learn together and take part in practical group activities\, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.   Who will benefit from attending?   People who are looking to improve their independent living skills.  What will I learn?  A single pot recipe (and have more to take away) Feel more confident in adapting recipes. Prepare and cook foods safely. Understand how to use hygiene practices when preparing and cooking food. Understand timings when cooking How long is the course?   A single 2-hour session.  Will I be assessed?   You will be required to complete some paperwork during this course. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.   Eligibility: Courses are no cost to learners who meet the eligibility criteria: Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August 2024 to learn with Family and Community Learning this academic year.  Learners must also have a Wiltshire postcode and either have lived in the UK/EU for three years or meet certain residency requirements (for example\, certain types of immigration status are exempt from the three-year residency rule).  Learners must also be able to tick one of the following criteria: On a lower income\, earning less than £25\,000 a year.In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit).Care leaver\, refugee\, foster carer\, carer\, military family / ex-armed forces personnel\, learning difficulty or disability\, or have school-aged children who receive free school meals.Not in work and looking to go into work\, now or in the future.If you do not feel you fit within the criteria\, we may still be able to help.  Please get in touch with us to discuss this further.
