SUMMARY:Exploring Volunteering
DESCRIPTION:Venue: Trowbridge \nWhat’s this course about?    \nThis course is designed to provide learners with the confidence and knowledge to explore a volunteering role of their choice.  \nThe learners will explore their personal skills\, qualities\, strengths and interests\, which will in turn help them to choose a volunteering opportunity that they will find both interesting and rewarding. At the end of the session\, learners will rehearse appropriate  interview question scenarios  and construct appropriate replies. They will also gain insight into how to dress appropriately if they are required to attend an interview.   \nCourse format:   \nThis is a face-to-face course where learners will learn together and take part in practical group activities\, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.   \nWho will benefit from attending?   \nPeople who are looking to improve their  communication skills and wish to explore volunteering opportunities.  \nWhat will I learn?  \n\n How to Identify the skills and qualities that are useful to volunteer roles. \n\n\nIdentify my strengths and interests. \n\n\nState the benefits that can be gained from volunteering. \n\n\nDescribe the rights and responsibilities of volunteers. \n\n\nUnderstand the role of a volunteer in an organisation. \n\n\nFormulate answers to possible interview questions. \n\n\nExplore the range of volunteer opportunities that are available. \n\nHow long is the course?   \nA single 2 hour session.  \nWill I be assessed?   \nYou will be required to complete some paperwork during this course and participate in group activities. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.   \nFaCL courses are funded by the DfE. \nCourses are no cost to learners who meet our eligibility criteria. Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August of the academic year\, have a Wiltshire postcode and meet certain residency requirements. You must also be able to tick one of the following criteria: \n\nOn a lower income (individual income less than £25\,750 a year)\nIn receipt of benefits (other than child benefit)\nNot in work and looking to go into work\, now or in the future\nCare leaver\, refugee\, foster carer\, carer\, military family / ex-armed forces personnel\,\nHave a learning difficulty or disability\nHave school-aged children who receive means-tested free school meals\nNot in work and looking to go into work\, now or in the future\n\nIf you are unsure if you are eligible\, we are always happy to talk things through with you. \nTo book a place\, please give us a ring on 01225 770 478. \nPlease get in touch if you have any questions.
