
What’s this course about?
The purpose of this suite of 5 courses is to enhance learner skills in their social, financial, nutrition, health and home life.
The course will enable learners to learn how to budget and explore a range of money saving practices in order to manage their finances more effectively.
Course format:
This is a face-to-face course where you’ll learn together and take part in practical group activities, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Who will benefit from attending?
This course is for adults who wish to improve their independence and find out how to take control of making the best of their environment in order to work towards developing their skills in other ways such as employment, volunteering or community engagement.
What will I learn?
- How to keep track of spending.
- Feel confident when making financial decisions.
- Recognise items that are value for money.
- Choose wisely when buying items.
- Apply maths kills in real life situations.
- Understand how to keep track of their expenditure
- Apply maths skills to real life situations.
Each session is 2 hours long and runs over 5 weeks
Will I be assessed?
You will be required to complete some paperwork during this course. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.
Venue: Paxcroft Mead Community Centre, Trowbridge.
Eligibility:
Courses are no cost to learners who meet the eligibility criteria:
Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August 2024 to learn with Family and Community Learning this academic year. Learners must also have a Wiltshire postcode and either have lived in the UK/EU for three years or meet certain residency requirements (for example, certain types of immigration status are exempt from the three-year residency rule). Learners must also be able to tick one of the following criteria:
- On a lower income, earning less than £25,000 a year.
- In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit).
- Care leaver, refugee, foster carer, carer, military family / ex-armed forces personnel, learning difficulty or disability, or have school-aged children who receive free school meals.
- Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future.
