Home Smart  – Venue Trowbridge What’s this course about?     The purpose of this course is to develop confidence levels and understanding of how to look after your home to make it a happy and healthy place to be.  You will find out what chores need to be done, how to do them and how to organise your time.  You will look at your responsibilities and what to do if there is a problem.  Course format:     This is a face to face course where you’ll learn together and take part in practical group activities, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.     Who will benefit from attending?     This course is for adults who wish to improve their independence and find out how to take control of making the best of their environment in order to work towards developing their skills in other ways such as employment, volunteering or community engagement.  What will I learn?    
  • Strategies to keep your home clean  
  • Strategies to keep your home tidy – including decluttering. 
  • Ways to create a schedule to keep on top of jobs 
  • What you can expect from a landlord 
  • What you can do to be a good tenant. 
 How long is the course?     This is run as 2-hour sessions over 5 weeks, with some activities to do at home to help you practise your skills.     Will I be assessed?     You will be required to complete some paperwork during this course. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.     FaCL courses are funded by the DfE. Courses are no cost to learners who meet our eligibility criteria. Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August of the academic year, have a Wiltshire postcode and meet certain residency requirements. You must also be able to tick one of the following criteria:
  • On a lower income (individual income less than £25,750 a year)
  • In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit)
  • Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future
  • Care leaver, refugee, foster carer, carer, military family / ex-armed forces personnel,
  • Have a learning difficulty or disability
  • Have school-aged children who receive means-tested free school meals
  • Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future
