What’s this course about?
This course aims to provide learners with skills to communicate effectively. We will identify common types of communication and how we adjust our conversations according to who we are speaking to. We will use communication to meet our needs – whether that is shopping, making appointments or making friends.
Course format:
This is a face-to-face course where learners will learn together and take part in practical group activities, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Who will benefit from attending?
People who are looking to improve confidence in their communication skills.
What will I learn?
- We will explore the reasons that we communicate, who we communicate with and how our communication styles change.
- We will identify appropriate types of communication
- We will participate in role plays to practise communicating so that they are familiar with scenarios
- We will explore how to communicate feelings effectively
- We will explore how to move an initial meeting to a friendship
- On a lower income (individual income less than £25,750 a year)
- In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit)
- Care leaver, refugee, foster carer, carer, military family / ex-armed forces personnel
- Have a learning difficulty or disability
- Have school aged children who receive means-tested free school meals.
- Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future.
