EET support service
Do you need some help or support?
If you are a young person aged 16-18 (up to August after 18th birthday) and not in education, employment or training, you can request support by filling in the form below.
The EET Support Service provides support for young who need extra help to re-engage with learning or find employment and training. One to one support from an Education, Employment Adviser will help you;
- understand what options are available to you
- find out about local training options
- find and apply for jobs or apprenticeships.

Careers advice
If you are still in education, then you should be able to talk to a career’s adviser at your school or college. Otherwise, you could contact the National Careers Service website. They provide impartial careers advice and guidance to anyone aged 13 and over. You can take a skills test to find out what you’re good at and explore careers that fit best. You can also call their teenagers Careers helpline for teenagers for information and advice about jobs, careers and training.
Care experienced
A care leaver is a young person aged 16-25 years old who has been ‘looked after’ at some point since they were 14 years old and were in care on or after their 16th birthday.
As a care leaver you are entitled to various support to help you move into a successful working life. Wiltshire Council have a Care Leaver Promise to support care leavers in their next steps.
The Virtual School is a service provided by Wiltshire Council and continues to support looked-after children and care leavers within education through to the age of 25.
The Care Leaver Covenant supports care leavers aged 16-25 to help them to live independently. You can see all the offers made on their official Care Leaver Covenant App.
Become also offer a free advice line to anyone in care or care leavers and the website has lots of useful information and resources.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)
The Local Offer explains support available to children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND), and to their families. Including support through the Wiltshire Employment Support Team (WEST).
Wiltshire Autism Hub offer outreach work and mentoring for anyone aged 14+, living in Wilshire with a diagnosis of Autism.
Wiltshire SENDIASS provide a free, confidential and impartial support service to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities offering information, advice and support for families and young people with SEND.
Drug or / and Alcohol abuse
Connect is a free integrated substance use service, available for Wiltshire residents. The service will support you as a whole person building resilience to overcome life’s challenges.

Gypsies and travellers
If you are part of the Gypsy or Traveller community, it is important that you know about the support you can get with education and finding work. Wiltshire Council has information and resources as well as who to contact for support.
Friends, Families and Travellers work on behalf of all Gypsies and Travellers regardless of ethnicity, culture or background providing advice and consultancy, promoting health and wellbeing, delivering training and much more. www.gypsy-traveller.org
The travellermovement.org.uk/ deliver Functional Skills by 121 online tutors for young people to gain up to a level 2 qualification in English and Maths. Employability skills and further support is available after the programme.
Jobcentre plus
If you are 18+ then you can get support from your local Jobcentre Plus. A work coach can give you information about programmes to help you prepare for, find and stay in work.
Across Wiltshire and Swindon there are 5 Jobcentres: Chippenham, Devizes, Salisbury, Swindon and Trowbridge and a Job Help dedicated page with updates about local events, support and job vacancies.

LGBT
If you are Lesbian, Gay, Bi or Trans (LGBT) you should be able to access the same education and employment opportunities as well as everyone else in a safe and equal manner enabling you to be yourself and reach your full potential.
Wiltshire & Swindon | Intercom Trust have a directory of support locally in Wiltshire and Swindon.
The Proud Trust has helpful information covering a range of different things such as coming out, faith and religion, and staying safe. You’ll also find stories and experiences from other LGBT+ people in the “People like me” section.
Proud Employers advertise to LGBTQ+ jobseekers to help find roles with organisations who believe in the power of a workplace that truly welcomes, respects and represents LGBTQ+ employees
Mental health and wellbeing
Everyone feels stressed sometimes but if you feel too much stress, too often, and can’t calm down, then you may need some support.
Wiltshire Children and Young People Emotional Wellbeing Service provides information, advice and wellbeing support for children aged 5-18 who live in Wiltshire or are registered with a Wiltshire GP. Young carers
Are you caring for someone?
A Young Carer is anyone under the age of 18 years who cares for someone as part of their home life. It is important you get support if you are a carer to help you to continue with learning or to find employment. Wiltshire Council’s young carers page has more information on how to get support – Young carers’ – Wiltshire Council.
The Carer Friendly Wiltshire website has online resources to help anyone in a caring role including applying for a Carer ID card.
Youth justice service
If you are or have been involved with offending behaviour you can get support to engage with education, employment and training from the Wiltshire Council Youth Offending team. The team also supports young people to prevent them from committing an offence and entering the criminal justice system.
Unlock have information, advice and support to people with convictions including a confidential peer run helpline.
Nacro also has a helpline which offers information and advice to ex-offenders, serving prisoners, their families and friends and to organisations working with them. Tel: 0300 123 1999.

Produced by the University of Bath in collaboration with Wiltshire Council, these resources are for practitioners supporting young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET)/ at risk of becoming NEET.
