What is this course about?
Exploring Easy Meals is a practical cooking course designed to help learners develop basic cooking skills, build confidence in the kitchen and support independent living.
During the session, learners will follow a simple one-pot recipe and make choices about ingredients to create a balanced and nutritious meal. The course encourages learners to develop practical skills that can be used at home to prepare healthy, affordable meals.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for adults who would like to improve their independent living skills and gain confidence preparing and cooking food.
What will I learn?
By the end of the session, you will:
- Learn how to prepare and cook a simple one-pot meal
- Take home additional portions of the recipe
- Feel more confident adapting recipes to suit your needs
- Prepare and cook food safely
- Understand food hygiene practices when preparing and cooking food
- Develop an understanding of timings when cooking
- Explore ways to create balanced and nutritious meals
Course Format
This is a face-to-face course where learners will learn together and take part in practical cooking activities in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The session includes tutor guidance, hands-on cooking experience and opportunities to develop confidence in food preparation and kitchen skills.
What Support Will I Receive?
You will be supported throughout the session by an experienced tutor who will guide you through the cooking process and help you develop your skills and confidence in the kitchen.
