What is this course about?
Working in Schools is a practical course designed to help you prepare for future employment in educational settings.
The course provides an insight into the varied roles and responsibilities involved in working in schools and gives you the opportunity to learn alongside other like-minded people. You will explore how schools support children and young people and develop an understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to work within an educational environment.
Who is this course for?
This course is for adults who would like to work with children in educational settings.
It is ideal for anyone considering a role in a school, supporting teaching and learning, or exploring future employment opportunities within education.
What will I learn?
By the end of the course, you will:
- Learn about some of the many roles and responsibilities involved in working in schools
- Develop an understanding of statutory and non-statutory documents relevant to your chosen age range
- Learn how to identify children’s needs and ways to support them
- Understand how to report concerns and developmental issues appropriately
- Explore some of the causes of challenging behaviour and strategies for managing it
- Develop an understanding of planning for learning and supporting children’s development
Course Format
This is an online course where you will learn alongside other learners and take part in practical group activities in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The course runs over five weeks, with weekly two-hour sessions. There will also be activities to complete at home to help you practise and develop your skills.
What Support Will I Receive?
You will be supported throughout the course by an experienced tutor. The course provides a welcoming environment where learners can share ideas, ask questions and build confidence in preparing for employment within schools.

Will I Be Assessed?
You will be asked to complete some course paperwork during the session. This helps record your learning and supports your learning journey and achievements.
