Developing English Skills is a friendly community course designed to help adults improve their reading, writing and communication skills.
The course is ideal for anyone who would like to refresh existing skills, improve confidence with written English, or prepare for further learning. Through practical activities and supportive teaching, you will develop the skills needed to use English more confidently in everyday life.

What will I learn?
During the course, you will develop:
- Reading and decoding skills
- Reading for information and understanding
- Note-taking skills
- Spelling strategies and techniques
- Sentence structure and grammar
- Understanding of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs
- Punctuation skills and when to use different punctuation marks
- Writing skills for everyday life, including messages, emails and applications
Course Format
Sessions are tutor-led and include a mixture of group activities, discussion, practical tasks and independent learning.
You will be supported throughout the course and encouraged to work at a pace that suits your individual needs in a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
