What’s this course about?
This course will help you improve your English language skills by focusing on essential communication skills, grammar and vocabulary.
Course format:
This is a face-to-face course where you’ll learn together and take part in practical group activities, all in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Who will benefit from attending?
This course will benefit anyone who would like to improve their English language skills at Entry 3 or above.
What will I learn?
- Be able to communicate better in everyday English
- Improve your speaking, listening and pronunciation skills
- Practise reading and complex writing skills.
- Practise your debating skills
- Increase your vocabulary
- Focus on your grammar including the perfect tenses and conditionals
How long is the course?
This is run as 2-hour sessions over 10 weeks, with some activities to do at home to help you practise your skills.
Will I be assessed?
You will be required to complete some paperwork during this course. This will record and support your learning journey and successes.
Entry Requirements:
FaCL courses are funded by the UK government via the Adult Skills Fund.
Courses are no cost to learners who meet our eligibility criteria. Learners must be aged 19+ on 31 August of the academic year, have a Wiltshire postcode and meet certain residency requirements. They must also be able to tick one of the following criteria:
- On a lower income (individual income less than £25,750 a year)
- In receipt of benefits (other than child benefit)
- Care leaver, refugee, foster carer, carer, military family / ex-armed forces personnel
- Have a learning difficulty or disability
- Have school aged children who receive means-tested free school meals.
- Not in work and looking to go into work, now or in the future.
