What is this course about?

Exploring Baking is a practical course designed to help learners develop basic baking skills, build confidence in the kitchen and support independent living.

During the session, learners will learn a simple sponge cake recipe and use it to design and create their own cupcakes. The course encourages creativity while developing practical cooking and food preparation skills.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for adults who would like to improve their independent living skills and gain confidence in baking and food preparation.

What will I learn?

By the end of the session, you will:

  • Learn how to make a basic sponge cake recipe
  • Develop measuring and weighing skills
  • Feel more confident adapting recipes
  • Prepare and cook food safely
  • Understand food hygiene practices when preparing and cooking food

Course Format

This is a face-to-face course where learners will learn together and take part in practical baking activities in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The session includes tutor guidance, hands-on baking and opportunities to develop confidence in the kitchen.
