Course Details

Duration: 8 sessions

Working in Early Years is an online course designed to help you prepare for future employment in childcare and educational settings. The course provides an introduction to the varied roles and responsibilities involved in early years education and offers the opportunity to learn alongside other like-minded people.

You will explore how children learn and develop, gain an understanding of key guidance and documentation used within early years settings, and develop knowledge of how to support children’s individual needs.

Who is this course for?

This course is for adults who are interested in working with children in educational settings, particularly within early years environments.

What will I learn?

During the course, you will:

  • Learn about the many roles and responsibilities involved in working in early years
  • Understand statutory and non-statutory guidance used in early years settings
  • Explore how to identify and support individual children’s needs, including SEND
  • Learn how to report concerns and support children’s development
  • Understand some of the causes of challenging behaviour and appropriate ways to respond
  • Learn about planning for learning using a range of early years documents and frameworks

Course Format

This is an online course delivered in a relaxed and friendly learning environment.

Learners will take part in tutor-led learning, discussions, and practical group activities. There will also be activities to complete at home to help reinforce learning and develop skills.

What support will I receive?

You will receive support from an experienced tutor throughout the course. The course offers a welcoming environment where learners can share experiences, ask questions and learn alongside others who are interested in working with children.
